A meeting of the deputy governor of the region Rustam Kobilov and the mayor of Samarkand city Fazliddin Umarov with representatives of the delegation of the World Council of Craftsmen was held at the Samarkand regional administration.

At the meeting, representatives of the regional administration introduced the guests to the rich history of Samarkand, traditions of crafts, and the activities of local masters. In particular, special attention was paid to the plans to establish a crafts center in Samarkand. It is planned that this center will become a platform for craftsmen to live, create, and exchange experiences. The main topic of the discussion was the issue of granting Samarkand the status of “World City of Craftsmen”. Members of the delegation of the World Council of Craftsmen highly appreciated the craft potential of Uzbekistan, in particular, the Samarkand region. They put forward specific proposals to support local artisans, export their products to the international market, and expand international cooperation. As part of the visit, the delegation members are also scheduled to visit artisan workshops in the region and get acquainted with unique examples of local art.
