
The opening ceremony of the new Samarkand bus station, built on the basis of a public-private partnership in the area of Chupon-ota in Samarkand city, was held.
The event was attended by the acting regional governor Adiz Boboev, industry experts, representatives of the general public, luminaries and media workers. The guests got acquainted with the conditions created for passengers at the bus station. 12 million US dollars were allocated for the implementation of this project. The new bus station was built on the basis of modern architecture, energy-saving solutions and safety standards. All amenities have been created here for passengers. These include a spacious and bright waiting room, a mother and child room, a playground, a medical room, electronic display of the bus schedule, special ramps and aisles for disabled citizens, separate waiting areas for buses, minibuses and non-route taxis, a driver's rest room, a vehicle inspection service, and a 24-hour video surveillance system. The bus station operates not only as a transport center, but also as a large-scale service and shopping area. There are 120 shops, 3 modern restaurants, 14 service stations, 1 car showroom, and 2 hotels. As a result of the commissioning of the new bus station, permanent jobs were created for 300 residents. The acting governor of the region Adiz Boboev noted at the opening ceremony of the bus station, that the implementation of the project would bring the quality of transport services in the region to a new level, increase the efficiency of intercity, inter regional and international travel, and save the population time and money . After the opening ceremony of the bus station, a cultural program was organized. Artists from our region and the capital entertained the participants of the event with their songs. It is expected that the Samarkand bus station will become an important transport hub not only within the Republic, but also on international routes. This will further increase the logistics, transport and tourism potential of the city of Samarkand.
