
Adiz Boboev, who is an acting governor of Samarkand region, has met with Aziz Kamilov, chairman of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan and Olympic champion Diyora Keldiyorova.
The issues related to the development of a judo school in our region and the popularization of this martial art were discussed at the meeting. Samarkand region has a high potential for martial arts, in particular judo. This is confirmed by the achievements of regional judokas over the past years. In 2024, regional athletes won 54 gold, 15 silver, and 23 bronze medals at competitions held in Republic. They won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals at international tournaments. It is necessary not to limit ourselves to these results, but to further develop judo in the region and bring it to a new level, said the head of the region. Adiz Boboev emphasized that it is necessary to continue the large-scale reforms being implemented in our region to promote a healthy lifestyle and increase the popularity of sports, to comprehensively support all types of sports, to widely involve young people, especially girls, in sports, and to create a modern sports infrastructure, and that the assistance of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan is important in this. At the meeting, special attention was paid to the issues of expanding the technical assistance of the regional federation in the training of athletes, coaches and referees, and introducing an effective mechanism for selecting talents.
