On May 9th - Day of Memory and Honor, an event was organized on the Memory Square in Samarkand.
It was attended by officials of the regional administration, military personnel, law enforcement officers, heads of state and public organizations, labor veterans, youth, and representatives of the general public. Led by Adiz Boboev, the governor of the region, the participants of the event laid flowers at the monument to the Mother of Mourning and respectfully remembered the memory of our ancestors who sacrificed their lives for the peace and peaceful life of our country. As noted, during World War II, one of the most difficult trials in the history of mankind, more than 152 thousand people from Samarkand were mobilized to the front. 73 thousand of them did not return to their homeland. This date once again reminds us of the fortitude, courage, and dedication of our people and plays an important role in educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism.
