A delegation from the German city of Heidelberg has arrived in Samarkand.

Adiz Boboev, the governor of the region, met with members of the delegation to discuss the future development of Samarkand, as well as the effective management of urban planning and urbanization processes. During the discussions, particular attention was paid to the comprehensive development of transport, engineering, and social infrastructure—amidst growing population numbers and accelerating urbanization—as well as the creation of new residential areas and the rational planning of territories.Furthermore, the importance of preserving Samarkand’s rich historical and cultural heritage was highlighted, as was the necessity of incorporating principles of environmental sustainability and climate protection when implementing modern urban development projects. At the conclusion of the meeting, practical tasks were defined regarding the formulation of a long-term development concept for the city and the study of advanced international best practices.
