Adiz Boboev, who is an acting governor of the region, met with representatives of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The meeting discussed the bank's project to build modern secondary schools in Uzbekistan. The bank will implement a project worth $500 million at the republican level. At the initial stage, it is planned to allocate $200 million for the project, which will select schools with a high attendance rate and reconstruct them. The project is expected to create approximately 94,000 additional student places in 2025-2030. The head of the region noted that in recent years, multi-storey buildings have been built in Samarkand to provide housing for the population, and he made a proposal to launch a system for financing the construction of new schools in these areas by the bank. Bank representatives announced that a project office would be established and that work would be carried out taking into account the initiatives expressed by the regional head. At the initial stage, 2 schools were selected in the Samarkand region, and after the project was fully formulated, bank representatives would conduct studies on the schools to be reconstructed and newly built. The head of the region emphasized his readiness to cooperate with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and continued work on the development of the social sector.
