A new building of the regional branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health was put into operation in the city of Samarkand.

The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health and its branches in the regions were established by presidential decree in 2023. In particular, the department of maternal and child screening, reproductive health and assisted reproductive technologies began operating in Samarkand. In order to create conditions for the activities of these departments, 12.5 billion soums were spent on the construction of a four-story building under the investment program. - Modern conditions that meet international standards for maternal health and healthy childbirth have been created in this building, - says Lola Hamroeva, head of the regional branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health. – In the departments of women's consultative clinic, mother and child screening, perinatal screening, reproductive health, school for expectant mothers, there is an opportunity to conduct timely examinations not only for women, but also for girls, and to treat existing diseases. Also, in the department of mother and child screening, an amniosynthesis procedure was launched to determine the presence of chromosomal anomalies (Down, Edwards, Patau Turner syndromes) in pregnant women who were identified as high-risk groups as a result of biochemical perinatal screening. It should be noted that this procedure was conducted for the first time in the region and will serve to prevent many previously undetected disabilities. An ECO center was also established in the branch in collaboration with Turkish medical workers, creating an opportunity for families who have not been able to have children for many years. It is noteworthy that this procedure is planned to be carried out free of charge for forty families in need of social protection every year. At the opening ceremony of the building, deputy Governor of the region H. Tokhtaev, Rector of Samarkand State Medical University J. Rizaev, and Consul General of Turkey in Samarkand Serdar Deniz spoke and recognized the importance of this institution in protecting the health of the population.
