More than 8,000 Presidential gifts including four types of sports equipment were awarded to 1,081 neighborhoods in the region for competitions held within the framework of the “Five Initiatives Olympics.”

The event organized on this occasion was attended by heads of regional sports and youth affairs departments, trainers of sports schools, and youth leaders working in neighborhoods. The event noted that Samarkand youth are leaders in the republic in this year’s “Five Initiatives Olympics.” It was also noted that this Olympiad is of great importance in organizing youth’s free time meaningfully, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and identifying talented youth and preparing them for national teams. Zohid Arzikulov, deputy director of the Ishtikhon district sports school says “we have received more than 360 pieces of sports equipment. Such attention will serve to widely involve young people in mass sports, discover talented young people and prepare for future competitions”. Currently, more than 2,200 boys and girls are engaged in 22 sports in our sports school. It is noteworthy that 18 of our athletes have been accepted into the main team of the national team of Uzbekistan, and more than 20 into the reserve team. This sports equipment will serve to improve the quality of competitions held in the neighborhoods, and to train talented athletes who will raise the flag of our country in international arenas in the future.
