Meeting with the Indonesian Minister of Culture The visit of the Samarkand regional delegation to Indonesia continues with a number of important meetings.

Adiz Boboev, who is the regional governor of the region, held talks with Fadli Zon , the Indonesian Minister of Culture. The meeting focused on further deepening cultural ties and expanding tourism potential. In particular, the parties discussed the initiative to implement a large media project - to create films about the life and work of Sheikh Mawlana Malik Ibrahim and the first President of Indonesia, Sukarno. It is noted that Sukarno went down in history as the first foreign statesman to visit the Imam al-Bukhari mausoleum located near Samarkand. This historical fact demonstrates the spiritual and cultural ties between the two peoples. These films, which will be shot in the future, will not only develop pilgrimage tourism, but also further enhance the status of Samarkand as an important spiritual center for the people of Indonesia. Also during the meeting, the initiative to hold a “Culture Week” in Samarkand and Jakarta was put forward. It was noted that this project will serve to activate cultural exchange, further strengthen friendship and mutual relations between peoples. As part of the visit, members of the Samarkand delegation also got acquainted with the exposition of the Museum of the Indonesian Ministry of Culture. At the end of the meeting, Minister Fadli Zon expressed his support for all initiatives put forward by Samarkand, noting that such projects will bring cultural ties to a new level and significantly increase the flow of Indonesian tourists to ancient Samarkand.
