
Adiz Boboev, who is an acting governor of Samarkand region, met with Muhammadali Iskandari, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uzbekistan.
The meeting discussed the prospects for further development of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Today, 19 enterprises with the capital of companies from the Islamic Republic of Iran, including 4 joint ventures, and 15 foreign enterprises operate in Samarkand region. In the field of mutual trade and economic relations between Samarkand region and the Islamic Republic of Iran, a total of 20.6 million dollars worth of goods were exported and imported in 2024, of which exports amounted to 3.8 million US dollars and imports amounted to 16.8 million dollars. The meeting discussed the current state of trade and economic cooperation, in particular, the issue of strengthening cooperation in the fields of agriculture, science, education and tourism. The conversation also touched upon the development of partnership between business entities of Iranian regions and businessmen from Samarkand in order to attract investments, introduce innovations and expand mutual trade. In turn, Ambassador Muhammadali Iskandari expressed his support for all proposals for the implementation of the issues discussed during the meeting with the head of the region.
