
Adiz Boboev, the acting governor of Samarkand region, held closed-door meetings with the governor of Chungcheongnam-do province, Kim Yong-hwan, and his deputy during his visit to the Republic of South Korea.
They exchanged views on the strengthening of trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea, as well as new opportunities. It was especially noted that inter-regional cooperation between the two countries is also strengthening. The parties provided detailed information about the sociolect-economic, scientific, and intellectual potential and resources of their region.The head of the region, Adiz Boboev, expressed his views on the economic potential of the Samarkand region, its geographical location, its advantages for tourism, promotion of cultural heritage, and innovative projects, as well as on the joint use of vast opportunities that have not yet been exploited. In particular, he made proposals to establish the production of batteries for electric vehicles, electrical products, and industrial filters in Samarkand, implement the “Smart Farm” projects, cooperate with Korean clinics to introduce telemedicine and medical IT technologies in Samarkand within the framework of the “Osong Medical Innovation Foundation” project, and organize the “Samarkand Tourism and Culture Days” in Chungcheongnam-do and the “Chungcheongnam-do Tourism and Culture Days” in Samarkand this year. The governor of Chungcheongnam-do Province Kim Yong-hwan expressed his satisfaction with the establishment and development of cooperation between Chungcheongnam-do and Samarkand region, and expressed his readiness to jointly implement promising projects in trade and economic, investment, tourism, electronics, electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, textile and food industries, and agriculture. At the meeting, it was agreed to train up to 100 young people from Samarkand at a university in Chungcheongnam-do province on a state grant basis. At the end of the meeting, a friendship agreement was signed between Chungcheongnam-do province and Samarkand region.
