The Samarkand delegation headed by regional governor Erkinjon Turdimov is in the People's Republic of China as we have reported earlier.
The first destination was in the city of Urumqi of Xinjiang-Uyghur autonomous region. The head of the region held meetings with leading Chinese industrialists there. Among the participants of meeting is the leadership of Urumqi economic and technological development zone, the first state-level economic and technological development zone in the Xinjiang-Uygur autonomous region. The organization is multifunctional and more than 9,000 companies are registered in it. 43 of these enterprises have achieved an annual industrial output of more than 100 million yuan (about 14.8 million US dollars) each year.
The next conversation was with representatives of Sailun Group, a manufacturer and supplier of premium class tires of all sizes. Sailun is one of the TOP 20 best tire manufacturers in the world. The company has tire production bases in Qingdao, Dongying, Shenyang, Weifang, Vietnam and Cambodia, and plans to build tire production bases in Dongjiakou, Mexico and Indonesia. Currently, Sailun Group plans to build annual production capacity of 26 million full steel radial tires, 103 million half steel radial tires, and 447,000 tons of off-road tires. The company's product sales cover more than 180 countries and regions, including China, North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. During the meetings, directions of cooperation involving Chinese investment in Samarkand were discussed.
