
Construction of a railway connecting the city of Samarkand and the Urgut district of the region has begun since February of this year.
The new 55-kilometer network is being built according to the master plan developed by the “Toshtemiryullloyiha” Limited Liability Company, taking into account modern engineering solutions. The new railway network, which will start in the territory of the city of Samarkand, will cross the 4R-238 highway near the company called ”MAN” in the Jomboy district, pass along the Zarafshan River and reach the Urgut district via a bridge to be built over this river.
Today, construction of the new railway network has began. Acting regional governor Adiz Boboev, who participated in the railway construction event, noted that the new railway network will bring people closer together and further increase the opportunities for tourism, trade, and export of manufactured products. Construction and installation work has been carried out on 25 kilometers of the 55-kilometer route to lay the railway line. Construction of two stations has also begun, the first in the city of Urgut, the second in the Jartepa area of Urgut, bordering the Republic of Tajikistan.
