Chess: Samarkand is hosting the World Championship
Samarkand is going to host the world championship in blitz and rapid chess on December 25-30.
The first World Championship in this direction was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on December 25-31 in 2017, and the V World Championship was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on December 25-31, in 2022.
The prize pool of the VI World Championship, which will be held in Samarkand, is 1 million US dollars.
Grandmasters who are ranked high in the world - Magnus Carlsen, Daniil Dubov, Nodirbek Abdusattarov, Gukesh Dommaradju, Vincent Kaymer, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Yan-Khishtov Duda, Yu Yan'i, Maxim Vasche-Lagrave, Levon Aronian are expected to participate in the World Championship.
The opening ceremony of the championship will be held on December 25.
