Scientists of Samarkand are conducting research on the creation of a new, high-yielding sort of wheat under the leadership of professor Gulom Gaybullaev of the Samarkand branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University.
As a result of the conducted experiments and selection work, fertile and early maturing sorts of wheat "Uzbekistan-30" and "Samarkand" were created. Currently, these sorts are being tested at the Republican State Sort Testing Center.
“Uzbekistan is one of the top ten countries in the world in terms of grain yield,” said Professor Gulom Gaybullayev. - Selection work is carried out in an integrated manner by the Samarkand branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University, the Samarkand regional department of "Uzagroinspektsiya" and the scientific seed farm "Farboma Selekt". So far, wheat sorts Jasmina, Farboma, Amira, Zarafshan and barley Bek have been created on 80 hectares of experimental land belonging to this farm, which specializes in seed production, located in Jambay district.
It is noteworthy that the Jasmina sort of wheat, created by Samarkand scientists on the basis of crossbreeding of sorts "Kroshka" and "Sangzor-8", has fully justified itself in practice with its high yield and suitability for climatic conditions. Today, this sort is grown on more than 13,000 hectares of land in the region and in the fields of neighboring Jizzakh, Navoi, Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions. Yields are not bad, on average, more than 60-70 quintals are harvested.
For the 2022 harvest, wheat sorts such as Jasmina, Yaksart, Davr and Farboma are being planted on 10,414 hectares of land of 472 seed farms in the region. This year, it is planned to grow 31,462 tons of grain during the grain harvest season.
- In January-March this year, the regional department and district departments of Uzagroinspektsiya conducted 213 inspections at farms specializing in grain growing, of which 76 violations were identified. Legal action was taken in the identified cases, said Khushnud Nurbekov, chief inspector of the Samarkand regional department of Uzagroinspektsiya. - Areas sown with seeds should be free from weeds and other sorts. Seed grain is not harvested from fields where rust is present.
Sarah produces an abundant and, most importantly, import-substituting quality crop. This is a factor of abundance. Therefore, separate harvesters have been allocated in the region for harvesting seed grain, and all of them have been equipped with appropriate symbols. Also, seed grain is stored in separate seed shops, in the cut of sorts.
