Harvesting of cocoons has begun in Samarkand

The cocoon harvesting event has been held in the cocoon cluster “Ziyovuddin Silk” located in the Pakhtachi district of the Samarkand region.

It was attended by the Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Silk and Wool Industry B. Sharipov, the Governor of Samarkand Region E. Turdimov and the Governor of Pakhtachi District M. Hamdamov. 20 million-dollar silk products were exported 5-6 years ago, this indicator corresponds to the share of only Samarkand region today. 57 thousand 329 boxes of silkworms have been cared for and 3 thousand 325 tons of cocoons are going to be grown in  the 1-2 seasons alone.

During the event, the participants got acquainted with the production capacity of the enterprise, export products, and the state of readiness of cocoon reception points.

Also, the cocoons grown by the homesteaders were weighed and labor fees were paid on the spot. Souvenirs were handed over to the residents.
