
Adiz Boboev, who is an acting governor of Samarkand region, met with Youngone corporation, the management of the South Korean company.
The meeting initially focused on the investments made by the South Korean company in Samarkand region and the activities of the enterprises. The amount of direct investments made by the Youngone corporation in Uzbekistan amounts to more than $28 million. Initially, the foreign enterprises “SAMARKAND APPAREL” in the textile sector began operating in Samarkand, and later “BUKA SPORTS WEAR” in the Buka district of Tashkent region. Currently, about 1,200 permanent jobs have been created in these enterprises. At the meeting, views were exchanged on further expanding production and export volumes by making additional investments in the amount of $30 million in the next two years. It was reported that the foreign enterprise “SAMARKAND APPAREL” has been exporting ready-made clothing products to the South Korean market for the past year and a half under the US brand “The North Face” and the famous global brand “Engelbert Strauss” to the European market, in particular to Germany.
The head of the region, Adiz Boboev, made proposals for further developing cooperation with the South Korean company and establishing manufacturing enterprises in densely populated areas of the region. It was noted that the new enterprises to be established will also be important in ensuring employment. It was reported that all assistance will be provided in this area within the framework of the law. The management of Youngone corporation expressed interest in expanding the activities of the “El Merosi” cultural center in Samarkand, launching new capacities, and implementing innovations in the textile industry.
