A meeting of the Republican Special Commission on improving the ecological situation in the region, improving the improvement of territories and the waste management system was held at the government of Samarkand region.

The work being carried out in the region to ensure timely waste removal, prevent the emergence of illegal landfills, and improve the quality of sanitary services was discussed. As noted, 4,085 violations related to waste were identified in 16 districts and cities of the region, and administrative fines totaling more than 2.7 billion soums were imposed on violators. Also, more than 130 thousand tons of waste were removed from the regions. The meeting noted the need to increase the number of waste collection containers in neighborhoods, strengthen the activities of special equipment, and improve improvement work. It was also reported that 22 special equipment and more than 200 waste collection boxes were purchased this year. Information was also provided on the work aimed at recycling waste and generating electricity from it in the city of Samarkand. At the end of the meeting, relevant instructions were given to the responsible persons to strengthen sanitation and improvement work in the regions, timely removal of waste, and improve the ecological environment.
