


A meeting has been held between Adiz Boboev, the governor of Samarkand region and Nasaruddin Umar , the Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia as part of the visit of the Samarkand regional delegation to Indonesia.
The parties first of all discussed the prospects for turning Samarkand into an important center for tourists and pilgrims from Indonesia at the meeting. The great importance of the Imam Bukhari complex in this regard was emphasized. It was precisely around this site that the development of pilgrimage tourism, the creation of new routes and the improvement of infrastructure were noted as one of the priority tasks. During the meeting, the issues of developing special tourism routes, improving the transport and logistics system, as well as expanding cooperation between scientific and research institutions of the two countries were also on the agenda. Nasaruddin Umar, noting that the rich historical and spiritual heritage of Samarkand is a common value not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the entire Islamic world, expressed confidence that the interest of Indonesian pilgrims in this site would further increase. The parties also reached an agreement on the joint promotion of enlightened Islamic values, the organization of large international forums and conferences. According to experts, the results of this visit will significantly activate tourist exchanges in the near future and pave the way for the launch of new joint projects between Samarkand and Indonesia.
