A press tour has been organized through the new railway network “Samarkand - Urgut” with the participation of a group of activists from Samarkand, media workers, and representatives of the general public.

The project of the new railway network “Samarkand - Urgut”, the construction of which began in February 2025, was implemented with the aim of improving the transport infrastructure in the region and expanding passenger and freight transportation capabilities.

This road, with a total length of 55 kilometers, is also of great importance in the development of the transport infrastructure of our country. As part of the project, two modern railway stations, two freight stations in the “Urgut” economic zone, as well as a number of bridges and structures were built. It is planned to fully electrify the route in the future. The new railway network created the opportunity to organize the operation of two pairs of intercity passenger trains and nine pairs of freight trains. The launch of the services will allow for the transportation of 359 thousand passengers and 8.2 million tons of cargo per year. During the press tour, journalists got acquainted with the improvement works being carried out around the railway network and the conditions created for passengers at the newly built station.
