
An international forum “Spiritual Heritage and Cultural Expressions of the Islamic World:
calligraphy, music, poetry and solidarity” is being held with the participation of the Ministers of Culture of the Islamic World in connection with the announcement of “Samarkand City - Cultural Capital of the Islamic World in 2025”.
Adiz Boboev, who is an acting governor of Samarkand region, attended the opening of the forum. Representatives from more than 20 ICESCO member states are participating in the forum. Today, Uzbekistan's cooperation with ICESCO in the fields of education, science and culture is developing steadily. At the 12th Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Islamic World, held in Doha on September 25-27, 2023, the city of Samarkand was declared the “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” in 2025. At the forum, a symbolic flag and statuette were presented in connection with the declaration of Samarkand as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World. These awards were presented by ICESCO director General Salim bin Muhammad Al-Malik to Adiz Boboyev working as an acting governor of Samarkand region.
