


A delegation led by Masato Kanda, The President of Asian Development Bank arrived in Samarkand.
The guests were welcomed at Samarkand International Airport by Adiz Boboev, an acting regional governor. From May 3 to 6, 2026, Samarkand will host the 59th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It is expected that heads of banking and financial institutions from 69 member countries, representatives of international organizations, NGOs and the media will participate in it and consider the development challenges facing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. During a conversation with Masato Kanda at Samarkand International Airport, Adiz Boboev expressed his satisfaction with the ADB annual meeting being held in Samarkand and noted that all necessary measures are being taken to hold this prestigious event at a high level. “Our annual meeting in ancient Samarkand in 2026 will serve as an important platform for strengthening dialogue and cooperation, creating an opportunity to discuss many unique aspects of the region,” said the ADB President. During their visit to Samarkand, ADB representatives, led by Masato Kanda, will familiarize themselves with the facilities and conditions where the 59th annual meeting will be held. It is also planned to organize a tour of Samarkand's attractions and architectural monuments.
