


Adiz Boboev,the governor of the region, held a meeting at the Samarkand regional administration with a delegation from the Republic of Iraq, which is on an official visit to Uzbekistan.
The delegation consisted of Ibrahim Madlul Uwaid Masudi, chairman of the Iraqi economic council, Amir Khalaf Alawi, chairman of the board of directors of the chamber of commerce, as well as Salar Muhammad Amin, deputy chairman of the national investment committee. During the meeting, the Iraqi side expressed great interest in ancient Samarkand and noted that they had read a lot about its rich history and cultural heritage. The guests expressed their pleasure at being in this legendary city, which has served as a bridge between civilizations for centuries. The parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the areas of industrial production, food and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture, energy and tourism. Particular attention was paid to strengthening export potential, increasing the volume of mutual trade, and expanding the range of products supplied. It was also noted that the peoples of Uzbekistan and Iraq are united by similar traditions, spiritual values, and historical proximity, which is a solid foundation for the development of long-term partnership relations. As part of the business program of the visit, a business forum is planned with the participation of about 150 entrepreneurs from Iraq. A tour of the leading industrial enterprises of the region and historical and cultural monuments of Samarkand is also planned for the guests.
