Meeting with representatives of Shaanxi province of the People’s Republic of China and entrepreneurs was held at Samarkand regional khokimiyat (governorate).

Khokim (governor) of Samarkand region T.Jurayev, warmly welcoming guests in Uzbekistan, noted that Presidents of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China are paying special attention to further strengthening of cooperation between the two states in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. Particularly, it was emphasized that mutually beneficial and prospective relations between regions of the two countries are being established.

In 2013, fraternal relations between Samarkand and Shaanxi province has been established. Business forums are held annually in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Samarkand regional territorial administration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shaanxi Sub-council.

Currently, there are more than thirty joint ventures with participation of Chinese capital in the region. They produce building materials, textile, chemical products, footwear, packaging materials, motor scooters and other goods.

On April, 2018, delegation led by khokim (governor) of Samarkand region visited Shaanxi, where they reached important agreements on development of bilateral relations. During the visit, presentation of investment opportunities and export potential of Samarkand region was held at the international logistics center in Xi'an.

Director of the Society of Agricultural Economics of Shaanxi Fang Shi Zhing noted that visit of Chinese entrepreneurs to Samarkand will accelerate the implementation process of agreements reached to date and the expansion of further areas of cooperation.

After the meeting in Samarkand regional territorial administration of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, a negotiation of domestic producers and Chinese entrepreneurs was held. During the event, prospects for development of relations were discussed, agreements on production cooperation and trade were reached, Memorandum of Cooperation between Shaanxi province and Samarkand region was signed.

Guests inspected the project of the Park on the territory of Samarkand State University, where it is planned to establish a monument to Confucius.

During the visit of representatives of Shaanxi province to Samarkand, acquaintance with activities of a number of enterprises and tour to historical and cultural attractions of the city is planned.
